Ideal Job

What is the job you always wanted to do? I wouldn’t say I always wanted to do it because as a young child I wasn’t into sports, but during my teenage years I developed an intense interest in basketball, (American) football, and baseball. If you’re American (and maybe Canadian?) you know there is no bigger sports entity in the U.S. than ESPN (probably Mexico too since they have ESPN Deportes). I wanted to be a Sportscenter sports anchor. Linda Cohn was the first female sports anchor I remember, and I remember thinking how cool it would be to interview people from Derek Jeter to Elvis Stojko. From Katerina Vitt to Mia Hamm. What was your dream vocation? I’m sure some of you would say wife and mother, and that is okay too. We need good mothers (and fathers)!

I wanted to be a meteorologist or a writer. I’ve sort of succeeded at both.

You absolutely have. I’d hire you right now over KWTV’s channel 9 David Payne.

@AmbiePam — I assume he wears those plaid jackets to warn us that he’s as annoying as his clothes….

@FourWalls Everyone here wants the morning news anchor, Lacey Swope to take over the night time role. But she has two young children, and I think she wants to tuck them in at night.

I did it. I worked in radio as an on-air personality. I wish now that when I was younger, I had been a bike messenger or gone to the mountains to work at a ski area and be a ski bum for a winter.

I always thought being an attorney would be nice. I applied to law school in Kansas City and got a government grant to go there. When I was getting ready to move up there, I got an email informing me that they hadn't gotten paid for their grants the year before so I couldn't use a grant to go there. So I found a regular job here and didn't go to college until I was offered a grant to attend OTC for computer classes. So that's where I went.

You’ll never not need that computer knowledge.

@AmbiePam Yeah, I know. I still would have liked knowing more about protecting kids, though.

That sports anchor dream sounds so fun, I bet you would've been great at it. Linda Cohn was a legend fr, she paved the way for a lot of women in that field. I always wanted to teach growing up and somehow I actually did it, so I got lucky.
