Mount Andong

A month ago, my wife, my youngest child, and I went on a trip to Mount Andong. I had climbed Andong several times before, but my wife and child hadn't. My wife was very excited about the climb. The challenge, however, was that I was bringing along a three-year-old toddler. There was no way my wife could carry our child, who weighs 14 kg. Under normal circumstances, the hike from the basecamp to the summit takes only about an hour, but bringing a toddler took the challenge to a whole new level. Mount Andong is one of the most family-friendly mountains, even for beginner hikers. Many families bring their children along to camp at the summit or stay in the basecamp area. But for me, carrying a three-year-old all the way to the summit? That’s a big "no"—unless my wife was willing to take turns. It certainly was an extraordinary experience—extraordinarily exhausting, that is.

This sounds like such a memorable trip, even with all that extra weight on your back lol. Carrying a toddler up a mountain is next level dedication, respect for that. Bet the view from the top made it all worth the tired legs though.

I can quite believe that it was very exhausting. I'm not sure I would have attempted it with a three-year-old.
