“I don’t know how to put this, but I’m kind of a big deal.” - Ron Burgundy. It fits the series, not the title. In this case, it’s “No Big Deal.” “No Big Deal” was the fourth and final single released from Love and Rockets’ self-titled 1989 album. It’s the band’s best-selling album in the States, and “No Big Deal” and the album’s smash hit, “So Alive,” are the only Love and Rockets singles to break into the Billboard Hot 100. And now that we’ve got that out of the way, “No Big Deal” is a song about betrayal. It was written by guitarist/vocalist Daniel Ash (This was the first time the band had ever taken individual songwriting credits.) While it sounds like a nasty breakup, the actual inspiration for the song is far from that. Ash, in an interview with Songfacts, said that at some point, some bloke he was friends with ripped him off. Crazy where song ideas come from. These people just think differently.
