Maybe three people will remember these guys and be up dancing to this song. The rest of you will go “huh”? Trust me, behind Neil Sedaka, these guys are the biggest omission from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So let’s boogie to the Big Apple with one of the great bands of the 70s. #7: Feats Don’t Fail Me Now - Little Feat This is what that “superstars” format did to music. Back in the 70s, Little Feat was a major FM rock player. AND a successful band: every album they had went “gold” in sales. But the bigwigs thought you’d rather hear “Stairway to Heaven” again this hour, so Little Feat was one of the countless acts who were mainstays on 70s FM rock radio that disappeared in the 80s. Yes, I’m sure that frontman Lowell George’s death in 1979 didn’t help (he died while I was in boot camp, and when I got a letter from a friend telling me I was all alone in a room with 80 other sailors ). But DANG, people are still covering “Willin’” (probably Feat’s best-known song to people who don’t really know much of Little Feat), and people are still citing them as a favorite and major influence. Not to mention that people still consider Waiting For Columbus the best live album of the 70s, if not ever. (Yeah, that’s a killer album!) I remember them and I still love them, and I’ll still say their legacy is intact and they deserve induction. So enjoy this rocking little tune; and, if you don’t know much about them, introduce yourself to them.
