Some things I find odd in old movies

Being an old movie and TV show viewer, there are a couple of things about the older movies and shows that I have always found a bit odd, especially back in the 50s and maybe a bit before. I remember watching old movies and TV shows and seeing the men kiss all of the women on the lips as a greeting or as a goodbye, and it always seemed so odd to me. I couldn't imagine a random guy friend just kissing me on the lips now. I thought it was odd when my stepfather-in-law kissed me on the cheek. It took me off guard because never in the history of my life has a man or woman, for that matter, kissed me on the cheek as a greeting. My mom will kiss me on the cheek when I'm leaving sometimes, but she's my mother. My dad doesn't do that. I don't know; maybe it's just how my family is. My family will hug each other, but we don't usually kiss each other. That said, family is one thing; random male friends you aren't related to kissing each other's wives has always felt strange to me. The other thing I have always found odd is the way they would always put a robe on over their pajamas whenever they got out of bed. It didn't matter if it was to answer a door or go to the bathroom. It wasn't even like they were wearing risque pajamas, and they always looked like warm pajamas, so they wouldn't need the robe for warmth. What is the purpose of putting on a robe over your pajamas to use the bathroom? That seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through just to walk into the bathroom that, in most cases, was directly attached to their bedroom, so they walked like twenty feet. It just always seemed weird to me. I could see putting on a robe if it was extra cold out or you weren't wearing a whole lot and were going to open the door, but not over a full pajama set to walk twenty feet to the bathroom. Is there anything you've seen in movies that just seems weird to you?
