Roast lamb and mint sauce……then trifle for dessert.

Yay…..
It’s Sunday ….
Roast dinner day …
Back from the caravan and back to my Moms for a roast Sunday dinner.
Roast lamb today with cauliflower, dwarf green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy.
Mint sauce to go with it too.
I am one of those strange people who does not like the mint sauce on her lamb. However, I always have mashed potatoes with lamb as I like to mix the mint sauce into the mash.
For dessert we had home made trifle.
It was all absolutely delicious.
I had certainly missed my Moms cooking and definitely her Sunday roast.
What did you have to eat today ….

@Jimbo45. Lamb and mint sauce is very traditional. I just like my meat to taste of what it’s supposed to !
I don’t mind a bit of sauce ….but usually on the side …..

@traceyjayne we had a royal visit from our son, daughter in law and 3 of their kids so ordered Dominos to cut out a lot of hard work. Now I’ve got indigestion as well as post traumatic stress syndrome.

I’ve never had mint sauce because I’ve only ever had lamb in a gyro. It’s not a common meat here. I plan to eat it on the cruise though because I’ve loved it when I’ve had it.
You say trifle, and I think of the Friends episode where Rachel says, “I wasn’t supposed to put beef in the trifle!”

@AmbiePam …..oohhh, if you get leg of lamb on the cruise , then have it. A lamb shank is nice too….the meat should just fall off the bone.
Yes, I remember the beef in the trifle in Friends.
Trifle was common place in the 60’s and 70’s here, but now is thought of as old fashioned. I don’t really care , it brings back memories of my childhood and it tastes delicious.

You made me hungry, that sounds simply delicious.
I usually do a roast of some kind on Sundays, but today will be T-Bone steaks.
They take a fair amount of time, and since I do not work on Sundays, I thought that it would be nice since I will not have to rush. We have quite a few packages of steaks in the deep freezer before we can consider ordering another quarter of beef.
I have a pumpkin pie for supper tonight.

I’m lucky that my Mom is an excellent cook. Your steaks sound good and I wish I could try the pumpkin pie. I make soup and cakes but I’ve never made a pie.

I would be so pleased to have Sunday roasts with my Mum but we lived many miles away so it didn't happen too often.
