Ireland sat under a persistent, comprehensive fall of rain yesterday. When it passed my garden could be seen to thrill to the drink it had been waiting for, and in the promised sunshine the dahlias stood proud and smart; theyradiated vibrant happiness and satisfaction. Birds too found new voice and wet grass glistened. Steam rose off drying pavements.
