Yes, Mom has to have cataract surgery ….

We are just back from Moms appointment for her contact lens and general eye test. As she expected, she has been advised to have cataract surgery. Her cousin has recently had hers done and so Mom is prepared for it to go ahead for herself, based on her cousins experience. A letter of referral is going to be sent and we should hear back soon. Any info to put our minds at ease please ……

@Ineeddentures the chap today said she should have both the initial appointment and the actual surgery all done before Christmas……we will see. Yvonne has to have cataract surgery ?

I had cataract surgery on left eye a year ago. To me it felt like the surgeon was just continually rinsing my eye with water. It was so relaxing and nice I nearly fell asleep. A very nice experience. I hope your mom's is as nice.

My stepmom had it done to both eyes, and had no problems whatsoever. My late grandmother had it, then bemoaned not doing it sooner. Plus, she’s going to have it done with a lot of prayers behind her. She’ll fly through it.

@traceyjayne I’ve heard only good reports. A lady I know at 94 had it done and first time she looked in her wardrobe afterwards was shocked that she owned so many brightly coloured dresses. She had come to think of them all as quite drab.

Cataract surgery is really common and most people say it was quicker and easier than they expected. Its usually done in under half an hour and they go home the same day. Since her cousin had a good experience, your mom is already in a good spot mentally.

We know several people who have had the same surgery and it’s seemed to be straight forward and successful. She also trusts the expert she saw today,
