The saddest movie I had seen as a kid was Dumbo.
I knew I had seen several movies as a kid as my father would let us watch a movie almost every night as our family time back in the 80s.
It was Dumbo that made me feel sad. Probably it was because I was a kid and I could imagine how it was to be separated from your mother.
I spent most of my childhood with my dad coz mom was too busy. I longed to be with her.

@AmbiePam My dad who must have been crazy. took sis and I to see that when we were quite young. We cried in the movie and all the way to where the car was parked maybe 3 or 4 blocks away. People probably thought he was beating us or something. He must have been mortified. I have an acute sensitivity to animals..and that kind of thing was torture for me.

It was only sad at start wasn’t it?
Do you know why elephants have Big Ears?
No?
Because Noddy wouldn’t pay the ransom!

I don't know why I could never really forget how sad I was when Dumbo got separated from his mom. And I haven't rewatched Dumbo nor seen the live action movie.
The first and last time I watched Dumbo? I was just a preschool kid.
wow I totally forgot Big Ears lol! I bet the kidnappers still keep pulling Big Ear's ears.

@Orson_Kart I agree. I grew up watching those old Disney movies because my father would rent those movies for me to watch. I loved Pinocchio too. But as a girl, I enjoyed, Cinderella and Snow White.
Didn't like Sleeping Beauty, found it too boring. Must be because she was just sleeping?

@toniganzon I love the old Disney movies and have watched them all multiple times. Pinocchio is probably my favourite, but they are all great. They are all way older than I am, and I am old, but like me, they are timeless…..

I saw Bambi when I was a kid but it didn't make me as sad as Dumbo.

@LadyDuck I saw Dumbo only in the early 80s. Watched it on betamax in the comforts of our home. My father wanted me to watch it. I had only seen it once. Never rewatched it again but I would love to.
I also haven't seen the live action movie.

Nope, no elephants here. But I did go to Thailand and saw some but didn't want to ride them.
