I don't think I am going to watch the news at noon anymore not on the channel I usually watch anyway

They have started using this new weird format that looks like a computer screen. None of the regular anchors on it anymore. They have like all these gen zers on it. I guess they are going after the youth demographic or something..but how many young people are watching the news at 12? Most don't watch network TV and stream everything anyway. This new format annoys me though.(She says like an old crank)

Our noon lady (of the station I watch) just quit to stay at home, but I can’t tell if she is thirty or forty. They also have a guy who is clearly thirty years old, but he has the manner of a kindly sixty year old man. He rose in the ranks quickly. I quit watching the noon news when I started watching the morning news.

@snowy22315 I tell you what’s embarrassing. They promoted a young guy to the evening. Poor guy ended up back on the mornings within two months. The demotion would embarrass me.

@AmbiePam They had a meteorologist that left the station after a couple of months. She obviously hadn't taken any broadcasting courses, and her delivery was very halting. She was hard to listen to actually. She took a scientific sort of job in Florida. Glad to hear she is not in broadcasting now!

@Rimps85 Glad that doesn't happen here because there are a lot of independent broadcasters who tell it like it is, or at least how they see it, which can be very inflammatory to some.

Two of our local news stations just merged with each other. I think the parent company of one bought out the other one. I always get my news on their app or website, but since the merger, I don’t like the format anymore.

This computer type format is for the birds, there are new anchors too. I am going to go to another station for the noon news. One that hasn't gone bonkers.

Ha I feel you, I switched off my local noon news for the same reason. Half the screen is graphics and nobody on it looks old enough to remember when the news was just the news. And you're right, young people are not sitting there at 12 anyway, they just get it on their phones.

I know what you mean. Two of our TV stations are owned by the same company now, and this morning they canned a couple of the meteorologists.

Yeah, maybe the one meteorologists is on a different broadcast I don't watch. They have afternoon news starting at 4 and going straight on until 6. I don/t watch the earlier ones.
