They’re Collecting Halloween Candy for the Memory Care Facility

United States
October 1, 2026 2:25pm CST
When we visited the mother-in-law yesterday at the memory care facility for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia, we saw that they were going to throw them a Halloween party on October 30 There was the sign that was asking for donations of candy so that all the residents could have plenty of goodies. That is right up our alley. We saw that the sign said no peanut products which we assume also means no peanut butter and then hubby and I talked and realized not to buy anything hard like brittle or something that would either break an elderly person’s tooth or choke them Hubby went out today and bought a couple of bags of miniature size chocolate bars and we’re going to drop them off next week.

I wonder if too much sugar might have an effect on them, much the way the “sugar rush” happens with kids.

What a great idea! That will be so fun for them. It’s also considerate not to buy any hard candy.

That's really sweet of you both to do that. Smart thinking on the no hard candy part too, people forget that stuff. I bet the residents will love the Halloween party.
