This is exactly the sort of show I used to hate , celebrities on reality TV for an easy buck and the chance to throw accelerant under their celebrity. Its now a massive show here. They are clambering to be on it. This years cast has some big names and small time youtubers mixed in. Most of the big stars are on the show as they have been asked and surprisingly said yes. Richard E Grant would never do this telly normally. But like I said - its a huge show here. The young lesbian lass from The Last of Us is on it. That is a massive show world-wide. Maya Jama was picked as traitor number one, Richard E grant as number 2. They are big stars here. She heads Love Island, ITVs biggest show. He has 50 Hollywood movies to his name. It was quite clever by the BBC to pick one of the oppositions biggest TV stars. They then have the opportunity to pick a third traitor. The producers need an ethnic to go deep in the show. Maya is that. The controversy in this show is subtle. White contestants tend to vote off the black and Asian contestants early on. Do they mean it, maybe. Miro racism is its name. Black people live their lives around that hidden bigotry. The old contestants don't last long either, voted off early as the young turn on them. These are also show biz people so they have their own hierarchy in the business. They wont want to keep youtubers and tiktokers around for long. But then they have watched the show and know these things and so can use these unspoken things to their advantage, the genius of this show. Its a great format and runs for a while. Its going up against the BBCs other big show this Autumn, Strictly come Dancing. The latter show is tanking a bit as too camp and the audience falling away like a drunk mans toupee. the BBC are under big pressure to justify the licence fee . We have to pay for it or face court. Its hosted by Claudia Winkelmann, once star of Strictly Come Dancing. She gave that up to concentrate on this show. Its set in the Scotland Lowlands around a beautiful castle. The contestants have to do tasks to win money for their charity but also a shield, making them exempt from murder. The traitors job is to kill the other contestants. Not physically but figuratively. The first murder is......well that's for the next episode.. The show is recorded from a while back. If contestants reveal anything from the show they are sued for 200 grand. My county of Northamptonshire has one contestant in it, James Acaster, who I played cricket against a while ago. He's a comedian, apparently. I think its such a huge show as its so multi-layered for a game show. We have not seen anything like this before. Its like the early days of Big Brother, the impact of season one of Who Wants to be Millionaire on the TV world...
