Short Story: A Rabbi on scripture, and on God

The old Jewish Rabbi once said that reading scripture creates a reservoir of love in you as much as does praying to God.
The two are equal in importance when you live a good life, connected to God.
Life does not owe you something, so instead of trying to obtain something from life, live life from the love in you, and doing this, brings you all you will ever need to live life.
Do not make life personal, nor make it impersonal, but allow it to be, and then you will see the truth that life is just life, and God makes life all that it is, including within you too.
Freewill allows us to live separately, from our mind, but we should drop being mind people, to be heart people instead, following God, and love, in our heart, not thoughts, and desires, in our mind.

The Rabbi always had a pleasant demeanour, and smile.

I have seen many Rabbis's on television, but have never met one in person, as yet.
Moses Ben lived a long time ago, 1138 to 1204, living 66 years, a good age for that time. He was a renowned Torah scholar.

I have never known any Jews, but I would like to meet, and talk, to a Rabbi, some time. Some are very wise, and knowledgeable .

@Ineeddentures Yes, most wives are wise, and knowledgeable, at least, we men, have to see them that way.
I believe that Judaism is progressive in their thinking, and they have Rabbis, who are women, now too.
In fact, a little research, has told me that the first woman Rabbi was appointed, way back in 1935, in Germany, of all places.

Yes, I think that we should try to make the best of the life we are given, or can make it for ourselves, as not many things, or people, will do things for us.
If it is to be, it's up to me, as my Dad said too.

Yes, without God in our life, we miss out on feeling the best of his love, and we never develop fully our own ability to love, either.

It requires a lot of experience to even follow what's said here. To be the source of love isn't easy. It all starts with loving oneself. When one is constantly being jeopardised of one's sanctity or stability of one's beingness, being a source of love and acting out of it isn't that easy.

I have heard it said that life was not meant to be easy, but it is still harder when we fight it with our mind, instead of living with it, aligned to love, and God, in our heart.

Love this, reading scripture and praying really do feel like two sides of the same thing. The part about living from the love in you instead of waiting for life to give you something hit me. Being a heart person sounds simple but it takes daily practice, I think.

Yes, it is not easy to put God, and love, first in our lives.
And yes, it does take an earnest effort to do so, and to keep practicing the way of love, while keeping our heart close to God, by studying scripture, and consistently praying to God too.

Yes, thanks, Shiva.
Those 3 tips for right living are all very good.
Yes, striving to do our best, while also trying to be our best self, our soul self, rather than just being a half-baked mind idea, of who we think that we are, puts us in good stead to live from love, rather than from desire.

@Shiva49 Yes, our life here is mostly preparation for what comes next.

@innertalks When we are shorn of our body, we are laid bare with only soul consciousness to show who we are. I feel then we have to prepare ourselves right now with the right approach.
Our lives are richer when we live it to benefit others. It will have an overall positive bearing when the moment comes to take our last breath.
