They are green and welcoming. Our gardener is their parent. Sister is not a lover of papayas. But she cooks it raw very well. Did you know that it's the only plant which can be consumed whole? Its seeds and leaves are used for tea, it's trunk and leaves for salad. Papayas can be eaten raw and ripe. What does it make it then? Fruit or vegetable?

The leave is vegetable for us. The taste is little bit bitter but we can deal with it

In salads there must be something used to drive away the bitterness. Once saw a Japanese young girl chewing it raw after slicing it with a knife.

I think it might be a vegetable but I am not sure.

Here in the US, if they are in grocery stores they are in the fruit section. I've never had it cooked, just peeled and eaten raw. It's good.

Interesting post, I never thought about papaya that way. I grew up seeing it used both as a fruit and in cooking, so I say it's a fruit that likes to act like a vegetable. Still amazed the leaves and seeds are useful too.
