The Summer of 1986 is a real favorite of mine. I was single, my daughter was about 14, and she and I were living in a cute brownstone apartment. We had befriended a guy in the building. He was funny and a real nice guy. We would take turns bringing meat one night or a salad and would make dinner in the big backyard. We played music and talked. He became a good friend, and we hung out most of the summer.
One night we drove up the highway toward Idaho City. There was life 5 bars along this stretch of highway. We would stop at one, have a beer or iced tea. Then in-between it and the next we would evaluate it. The ambiance, the service and the social interaction.
It was getting late and we were out on a dark, vacant highway when five or six deer came down to the highway. We slowed to watch them. They came out and circled the car, acting as if they were tame. We interacted with them for 10-15 minutes. Then they went along their way. We felt like we had made friends.
While he and I palled around together, we had many such encounters. Time seemed to slow down, and would we experience little oddities that seemed so isolated and special to look back upon.

Its a nostalgic feeling everytime you reminisce the old times with a close friend , those were the days, no social media , pure interaction and thats the best time ever , 1986, I am just five years old at that time.
