We Take Care Of Our Neighbors

All of the neighbors here on this street take care of each other. They’re all elderly.
My neighbor across the street, a preacher who just retired, let us know that he and his family were going to Michigan for 10 days. So when I saw a package delivered on his porch today, I retrieved it and I’m holding it here safely for him until he returns.
Once a month, all of the residents go to lunch somewhere together. We have a list of everybody’s birthdays and everybody gives the birthday person a card or gift.
I think there are 12 units here and 11 of us all get along.
The other neighbor across the street is the 83 year-old lady with cancer and she is in Tennessee with her son right now so I’m watching her house for her.
We do what we can to take care of our small community of neighbors

Sounds like neighbourly heaven
You have never mentioned any of this before, certainly not the once a month lunch.
You have a list of everybody’s birthdays and everybody gives the birthday person a card or gift.
That's is amazing LooeyVille

@ineeddentures. Actually my dear friend Jimbo I have mentioned this before as a matter of fact just last month when I was able to meet the neighbors for the monthly luncheon.

That is wonderful. There is only one more house on our small street, and it is empty. So none around, And what is really funny right across the street is an apartment unit but I hardly ever see anyone going in or out,

My neighborhood is fairly quiet, and consists of two streets in an L shape. My street ends in an open area and a field of big trees, so it's not a thru street. Most of us have been here for some time, we do the same--we try to watch out for each other when we can. It's good to know if I needed help for some reason, the help would be there in some form.
