After reading a post by @Traceyjayne a few days ago about making cheese and chive scones (using her own home-grown chives) I was tempted to try making some myself. And then some friends invited us over for brunch on Saturday morning so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I couldn’t use the exact same recipe as @Traceyjayne because that was designed for an air fryer. And also only available if you bought the book which I obviously wasn’t going to do, not having an air fryer! But I found a recipe online by Mary Berry so that seemed like a good bet. I made a batch and it didn’t seem too difficult. I didn’t have buttermilk so I used a bit less regular milk and added a spoonful of yogurt. They came out well but it only made ten so I quickly made a second batch as ten between six of us didn’t seem like enough, and the second lot were quicker now I knew what to do. In fact they were very easy and really good. I put 15 in a tin to take with us and they went down well with our friends. Then we still had a few left to eat with our carrot and coriander soup at dinner time yesterday and today as well Will definitely make those again, thanks @Traceyjayne! I've tried to add a photo but have run into the same old problem it seems...

Hmm... Those do sound interesting, not that I'm going to make them or anything like that. But I have made Cheddar cheese cookies when Pretty was little for one of her parties we had. She invited half a dozen little girls and I invited some of the parents. Everybody loved them.... Several asked for my recipe. Yes, I tried to add a photo earlier that didn't work.

Ha, making a second batch because ten wasn't enough for six people is so relatable. Swapping in milk and yogurt for the buttermilk and still getting good scones is a solid win. Cheese scones with carrot and coriander soup sounds like a really nice combo too.
