Remember Precious Moments?

Does anyone have any Precious Moments figurines? What’s funny that although my family has several, only one was bought. The rest were gifts from people in the congregations my dad pastored. Pictured is a little cabinet in the guest bathroom with all of the Precious Moments items. All but one. Diana put them there, but I took home the figurine of a girl looking at a map. My dad bought it for my mom when we went by Carthage, Missouri and visited The Precious Moments Chapel Museum (on the way to somewhere else). Why is that special? It was 1991, and my dad asked my mom to check the map (remember maps?) on the way to the chapel. Long story short, she read it wrong, and we ended up taking a very long way to it. When we got to the chapel museum he saw the figurine with the map and bought it for her. She did not think it was funny. Of course, she eventually saw the humor, and that one became her favorite.

A great way to relive memorable moments, though I've never seen one. The precious moments of my life are in my mind.

Oh, really. It appears they were very popular in Canada too. They cost a lot so we never would have bought them.

What an adorable story. I have a couple of those little figurines on one of the chest of drawers in the bedroom. They originally were gifted to us when our son received his first Holy Communion and when he graduated from Sr. Kindergarten.

Ha, that map story is gold, I can just picture your mom's face. We have a few Precious Moments too and none of us bought them, they all just showed up as gifts over the years. Its funny how the ones with a story behind them end up being the favorites.

I thought everybody had heard of them since they were so huge and also expensive back then. Here is a good shot of the one with the map. Ring a bell?

I don't think I've ever actually seen any of these. That's a good story and a good choice of yours as a reminder of a funny story and your lovely Mum.

Thanks! I also realized I have one with a preacher at a pulpit, but that was from my grandma’s house. Someone gave it to my grandpa. Do you remember how popular they were?
