It's Ladies Night - "Disco Lady"

Before someone goes all Comiskey Park on me, don’t let the title fool you. We’re not going disco today. Because despite its title, “Disco Lady” is not a disco song.
“Disco Lady” was a 1976 single by former Stax Records vocalist Johnnie Taylor, his first for his then-new label, Columbia Records. All Taylor did for Columbia was deliver a tune that spent four weeks at the top of the Hot 100; it would become the first single certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, selling over 2.5 million copies (I bought one. I was 12.)
Fun Fact: “Disco Lady” was also the first single with “Disco” in the title to reach #1.
Still not a disco tune. ‘Disco Lady” is pure smooth 70’ funk. Considering that four members of Parlament/Funkadelic played on the song (Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Glenn Goins, and Tiki Fulwood,) it’s unsurprising.
You’ll just have to get your disco elsewhere today.

True Mike Ness could do it too and stop people in their Tracks. Disco Lady, come dance with me. Plus his wife would not even be mad.

I liked “Who’s Making Love” a WHOLE lot better than this song.
But “girl you ought to be on TV, on Soul Train” is a line that sticks with you.
