Happy Saturday myLot.
It is the Saturday of our long Thanksgiving Day weekend here in Canada. We gather tomorrow. This morning I was up and out to get the groceries bright and early. After I came home and we put everything away, we headed across town, just outside of the city, to the Saturday's Farmer's Market.
We got 20 pounds of apples, they are huge looking, and very fresh. Right out of the orchard fresh!
I love squash, and they also had some nice fresh butternut squash for only a toonie each. Our arms were full with each of us having a big bag of apples, but we also grabbed some squash. I eat it like most people eat mashed potatoes.
We also got some broccoli. That has been blanched and is on baking sheets in the freezer so that I can bag it for soup when the weather is cold.
It is Oktoberfest weekend here in SW Ontario. We picked up some sausages, my hubs loves them, he will make some for lunch today.
This afternoon we are just going to relax and enjoy ourselves, tomorrow will be a busy day. What shinanigans are you up to today?

Thank you.
I am doing some of the cooking today.
We try to have the turkey done in the early afternoon, so that it can be carved and then put into the roaster in the oven, and that work is done. I will have the mashed potatoes and squash done for then also. That will only leave steaming the corn and heating up the gravy for hot dishes tomorrow.

How did you know I was up to any shenanigans? I think I’ll keep those to myself.
I love butternut squash! It’s absolutely delicious, and, of course, so healthy.
I’m starting to double check things for my trip. It never fails I always feel like I left things behind so I’m even asking my sister, hey, what did you bring I need to as well? Because she never forgets anything.
You are going to have such a wonderful Thanksgiving.

@AmbiePam The turkey itself is 13 pounds, then the weight of the big stainless steel roasting pan and the stainless steel rack that holds the turkey in place. And it is a big awkward size, more than I want to handle when it is hot.
I know that it was hard on Ron when he lost his Dad suddenly when he was just a teenager, but he grew up and helped his mother and in turn, me too every day since.

Well this morning I went to the local fall festival which is always fun. I look forward to it every year, because it is always slightly different, with something for everybody. Every year it gets bigger..I was shocked when I got there by 11 AM, and they were already doing the overflow parking. I skipped that though, and luckily got a place in the regular lot. I also went to an open mic at the arts center which featured a lot of local talent.

Roscoe is up to all kinds of shinanigans. He refuses to do as I ask so I've had to send him to bed once already but he didn't stay there for long. Now he's laying close to me and even though he has treats in his toy he won't go for them. Silly pup is trying to train me, as if I'm not already well trained

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the turkey. Here I was wondering why I got my SS early and could already get my groceries yesterday and someone here informed me that on Monday we also have a holiday it will be Columbus Day. Then things come early on a holiday weekend,

So far, I’ve tackled some thing that I need to get done for my upcoming trip. I haven’t decided about the rest of the day yet.

Thanks @Wrexxo I have always enjoyed squash.
My husband likes the leftover mashed potatoes and when they were gone, one year I realized that the squash was really as delicious (to me) as the potatoes were.
I am baking the squash now so that I can have them ready for tomorrow, because the turkey roaster takes up so much space in the oven, I cannot get anything else in there. I will do the mashed potatoes in the morning tomorrow. We usually time it so that we can carve the turkey and put it into a disposable tin roaster in the oven with the potatoes and squash to keep hot until supper.
That way, the larger cooking vessels are washed, dried and all put away.
