Okay, the country stuff is over (for a day at least). It’s time to ROCK! Both songs today will get your feet tapping as we jump on the record player for our daily trip to Southern California. I’m alternating between which goes first, L.A. or Hollywood, and today it’s Hollywood’s turn.
It Came Out of the Sky - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Ah, that wonderful mind of John Fogerty. Cross Cold War fears and My Favorite Martian and you get this song!
A farmer in Illinois finds something from outer space, and the sensation is on. Everyone, from the Vatican (side note: get-well prayers for Pope Leo, who’s having a nodule removed from his lung this week) to “Ronnie the populist” (that’s Reagan, who was governor of California at the time) to Spiro (Agnew, the vice president at the time) to Walter and Eric (Cronkite and Sevareid, from CBS news) come running.
Everyone starts claiming that it’s “theirs,” but since it landed on the farmer’s land, it’s HIS. He’ll let the White House, the Vatican, or whomever else wants it have it…for seventeen million dollars.
The sad thing about this song is that it’s over 55 years old, and it’s still an accurate representation of our world. But at least you can stomp your feet to it.

I can't believe I've never heard this one before, of course you know I love it and so did my chair
I'd be in shock if we actually got peeps in the gov that were worth the trouble, good ole George is probably the best one of em all. Of course it helps that in his day and age the USA wasn't all that big.

He was probably good simply because he didn’t have power back then.
Glad you enjoyed the song! My apologies to the pets and the chair.

Definitely we knew the group and the voice was totally recognizable but we did not know this song. I LOVE CCR!

Still not quite sure what came out of the sky but will discuss it with the boys down on the corner with a bad moon rising,
