I think that most plant based milks have less calcium than regular milk, but the carton I just bought says it has twice as much calcium as milk..hmm? I know that almonds are healthy, and one of the healthiest nuts, but I didn't know they had calcium...did you? I am not a huge almond milk fan, but this had a lot less calories than 2 percent milk which was the only milk besides whole milk that they had.

Most nuts are high in magnesium,,but didn't know about calcium. In general, eaten in moderation they are very good for you. However, it is pretty hard to eat a small serving of nuts..like a quarter of a cup, at least for me.

@snowy22315 When I was in my late 40's I used to snack on almonds to improve my calcium level.

THat would stand to reason. Are you able to drink other plant based milks?

@LooeyVille Of course there is also rice milk, hemp milk and pea milk or protein. I haven't tried any of those. I suppose coconut milk would be the same problem for you as the other nut milks.

@snowy22315 I could probably drink oat milk, but I haven’t tried. I’m also allergic to soy and soy beans so soy milk is out

I’ve just stuck with soy milk as that’s what my doctor told me to get. Something about all the protein. I never really thought about the calcium content. I do like almond milk though.

Despite all the healthy attributes given to almonds, there's a huge outcry against almonds because the trees requires high amounts of water.

Honestly I didn't know almonds had that much calcium either. Most of the plant milks I've seen are lower, so twice as much is kind of surprising. Might be added to it, but that's a good deal with fewer calories.

I have heard from a friend before that they really do cantina more calcium than milk but only the fortified one. But we absorb more calcium from the dairy products. I am a fan of plant based milk since I am lactose intolerant.

I used to enjoy the occasional glass of milk. I don’t know the reason, but it just doesn’t sound good to me at all anymore. I still cook with milk, and put it in foods I make, but I don’t drink it. Almond milk is ok tasting, but I still don’t want to drink it, either. Yes, I know this is weird.
