I Ran Into an Old Friend’s Family Tonight

When I got to the place for music bingo I saw this older couple sitting at a nearby table and I immediately recognized them even though I haven’t seen them in 30 years.
I walked over and said hi and told them then who I was. They were very excited to see me.
They were the aunt and uncle of my best friend in high school.
Her whole family adopted me when I was a teenager. They are very kind and loving people.
They called my friend’s mom and then she called me and we exchanged phone numbers
I texted my friend from whom I’ve been estranged for 20 years. She hasn’t responded yet.
Perhaps this will reignite our friendship

My friend‘s name is Diane and to be quite honest. She’s a little weird. She’s extremely shy and awkward, which isn’t a bad thing and it’s probably not the right description for her. Her mom and dad were golden to me in my teenage years. They treated me like their own daughter. So did the aunt and uncle.. they were a very close knit family. If I’m being honest, I like the family better than I like the friend. We didn’t have a falling out, but I just couldn’t find any common ground with her.. but I’m willing to reconnect and try again
