Back for another visit to Los Angeles , and back with a song that showed up in the New Orleans countdown. Spoiler alert: if i do a Birmingham countdown, it’ll be there, too! A great song to celebrate traveling and music in general. The Promised Land - Chuck Berry Now, if you remember when we did the New Orleans countdown, I used Freddy Weller’s version of this song. Sorry, folks, but no Elvis version. He left a verse out. What can I say? It’s rock ‘n’ roll’s daddy, doing what he did best. Oh, here’s some trivia for you: Chuck Berry wrote this in prison. He was singled out for being black, and convicted for violation of the Mann Act. I mean, no other rocker EVER had sex with a groupie, right? Enjoy this classic once again! But yes of course we know artist and song. I loved the scene in Men in Black where they played this song. Hubby likes the Elvis version.

Love that you went with Chuck Berry's version this time. Didn't know he wrote it while he was in prison, that's wild. Always a good one to put on when you're driving somewhere.
