Facebook is listening

My mom was talking to me just now about going to Uniqlo. She wanted me to go there to look at those light jackets they sell. Hers is old and she wants a new one. I opened my Facebook app and what do I see in my feed? An ad for Uniqlo. Is there some setting on FB that allows them to listen to conversations so they can show you content on that? I don’t want them to do it. I’ve had it happen before where I didn’t even say something aloud, simply thought about it, and then I saw an ad for it on FB. That’s a bit freaky to me.

this is true across all social media platforms, not only just Facebook...and it is scary...infact, Zuckerberg was once asked about this in an open forum & he conveniently denied

FB and everything tech related is listening and gathering info for selling purposes.

We should have a way to opt out of it.

Happens to me too and it's so creepy. I think a lot of it is them tracking what you search and who you're around, but I'd still turn off the mic access for the app in your phone settings. Better safe than sorry.

That's the thing. My microphone setting in FB is turned off. Not inside the FB app itself but when I go to apps on my iPhone and select the FB app.
