I was looking through our file where I keep instructions that come with tools and gadgets, and I found something I had forgotten – the receipt for a new amplifier I bought from Richer Sounds in 2018. This had come with an optional guarantee, which was redeemable after six years if it wasn’t used. I had opted to pay for this and on the front I had written myself a note saying ‘redeemable in Sept 2024 if not used’. Well I had forgotten all about it as I’m sure the vast majority of people do! But having rediscovered it, and because the shop is not that far away and in fact I would be passing when I took Big One to the railway station, I decided to call in and see if they would refund my payment even if I was 2 years late. And to their credit they did. Of course Richer Sounds sells very high-tech and fantastically expensive audio-visual equipment, so my £12.85 was nothing to them really, but still I was pleased that they gave me the money. One reason why they have excellent ratings for customer service I’m sure!

Good on Richer Sounds for refunding you even two years late, that's proper customer service. Nice that you found the receipt before it got thrown out. £12.85 is still money, so well done for remembering to ask.

That is the sort of service that means you'll tell others about it and go back there if you need anything. It's worth double £12.85 in goodwill. And, once again, it pays to ask!
