Sometimes You Have To Spend a Little Extra To Get a Whole Lot Extra

I do have a trip coming up in 4 days - a solo trip to Malta, but my next Ocean Cruise isn't until February. In February me and friends will be on a 14-day cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii and back. You all know that @AmbiePam is on a cruise right now. She was talking before she left at wanting to buy the internet access just for a couple of days while on her cruise, but I told her that the cruiselines require that you pay for the whole length of the trip times a daily rate. You can just pick a day or two. And the premium internet like she wanted to be able to stream movies and things is around $22/day, so it can really add up. I don't know how long Amber's cruise is, but if it's 7 days that would be $154 just for internet access for one week. Now cruises have "Drink Packages" that you can buy for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic use, but they too can add up to quite a bit. I personally don't drink alcohol. So I got a promotion for a "Fun Pack" that I could purchase for my Hawaii cruise. For a set amount per day x 14 days, I could get Premium Wifi, 3 alcoholic beverages per day, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages every day including soft drinks, mocktails, bottled water, specialty coffees, energy drinks, etc, 50 % off of all Spa Services, $100 off of one Shore Excursion, One Free Dinner at the Specialty Steakhouse, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting. I did the math. What it would have cost me out of my own pocket ala carte for internet, a few bottles of water, and a few soft drinks was $141 less than what the package was going to cost me. And with the package, I am getting a whole lot more. So I broke it down to $10.07 extra per day that I'd be paying, which would equal 1 1/2 soft drinks. So yeah, I am getting the "Fun Pack" package. Yes, it costs $141 more, but I get a whole lot more. Would you get the package?

I just paid for three days internet access. It will be enough for me. One of my friends sent me some money to help cover it.

Which cruise line is that? I've never heard of them letting you buy a day or two.

Honestly I think you did the math right, $10 extra a day for all that is a good deal. The spa discount and the shore excursion credit alone could cover most of it. I would get it too, especially for 14 days.

If it means more bang for your buck then do it.

The savings in that seems significant. Probably the cost of one shore excursion with today's prices being what they are. Sometimes, those special packages are worth the cost.
