The Many Changes

As many of you know, my darling little twin granddaughters, started JK this year.
Here JK is all day and every day. It can prove to be alot for 4-year olds. The school buses pick up between 8:30-8:40am, and they return between 3:40 and 3:45.
Both of the girls have learned to help Mom by making their lunch and packing their snacks the night before. They seem to enjoy doing that together in the kitchen.
Since Dad has to start work at 8 and Mom leaves for work at the same time, Grandpa is there to finish getting the girls ready, and out the door to wait for the bus together.
We are seeing Willow getting quieter and quieter as the school year rolls along. We do not know why. She has her twin sister right there with her, which is at least 1 'friend' which is saying something when most do not have that.
I whispered into Harper's ear today asking if Willow was happy today and she didn't reply, so I asked her again, and she just turned her face to me, said nothing, but her look said no.
It breaks my heart that she isn't feeling 'happy' as she should/could be since JK is alot more fun than any of the other grades and certainly better than working for a living.
So many changes, and we miss the happiness of her pre school days. I hope that the changes plateau and she feels more climatized.

Poor Willow.
Maybe she's being teased by someone and doesn't know how to deal with that.

It may be while before she adjusts well, Julia. I got more and more quiet in K-4 (what they call it here), and my parents noticed it too. But having a steady, structured hime life to depend on always makes it easier, and both girls have that. And you all will figure out what to do. You’ve got an amazing amount of wisdom.

Oh that is sad. Could you possibly meet with her teacher, and see if she has noticed something, and if she has any suggestion?. It seems school is stressful for Willow, and maybe some adjustments can be made. I didn't go to kindergarten because our school district didn't offer it, but my sister did, and it was half a day and they had naps! It was only half day when my son went as well, but naps were not included. He was an afternoon kindergartner..so I think he was pretty well rested when he went to school.
