Gone Hollywood Songs: Tush

Here we are, closing out the alphabetical list of songs that mention Hollywood. That means we start my ten favorites tomorrow, and that someone’s patience will be rewarded. Meanwhile, get your Texas blues boogie going! Tush - ZZ Top This is just “Z” now. That Little Old Band From Texas is one person, following the deaths of Dusty Hill, who sang lead on this song, and drummer-without-a-beard Frank Beard. But if Don Henley and friends can keep touring as “Eagles,” why can’t ZZ Top! This was ZZ Top‘s top 40 breakthrough. Their classic song “La Grange“ nearly made the top 40, but it peaked at #41. And, if you look at the things on AM radio in 1975 with the Captain and Tennille and John Denver (yeah, and Alice Cooper and BTO), you see how out of place a 12-bar blues song was. But it sounded good then. It sounds good now, too. Rest in peace, Dusty and Frank.
