It Always Helps to Analyze Things

I went down a rabbit hole this evening and decided to check all my current prescriptions for potential side effects. I was hoping to determine if any of them were contributing to my liver issues. What I found was very concerning. 3 of my medicines cause nausea 4 of my medications cause headaches 2 of my medications cause fatigue 4 of my meds cause anxiety 5 of my meds cause insomnia or sleep issues 3 of my meds cause me to feel too hot 3 of my medications elevate sugar levels 2 of my medications cause liver injury Oh sorry, I should have said I take 5 meds. And I meant to add the disclaimer that these are potential side effects, not definite ones. But I am having all of those side effects. Granted I have a couple of underlying issues as well but these medicines may be exacerbating existing conditions I think the meds are doing more harm than good. I would like to go off of most or all of my meds. I am still researching all of that. And yes I will talk to my doctors first. Seeing everything side by side really helped me figure out what’s going on with my health.

Wait, they CAN cause those things, but that doesn’t mean they all actually are causing them. I take a medication that can cause migraines. Went off of it, and still had the migraines. My one medication can cause liver problems, but I had a liver disease far before my medication, and it certainly hasn’t made my liver disease worse. I’m not saying you’re wrong in all counts; I’m just saying they may not all be guilty.

Oh yes, I meant to put that disclaimer in my post, but I got distracted and didn’t get it in there. I’ll go put it in now. Some of them may be exacerbating a condition I already have.

@LooeyVille Although, I don’t want to poo poo your suspicions by any means. Your suspicions are obviously valid.

It is better to talk to your doctor first. Maybe he can change or removed some of those meds.

@looeyville The many potential side effects of any medication can certainly seem worse than the conditions they are meant to alleviate. Insomnia must be the worst on your list.

It's hard to know what to do for the best. I hope your doctor can put your mind at ease.

That's why I am not med friendly. Side effects list a mile long and just one of them is worse than the reason for taking the meds in the first place.

Looking at that list, it can definitely make people worry. But at the end of the day, talking to your doctor is a good place to start. They can definitely advise and all that.

That's what I'm doing, is trying to get the dr's I'm under to do a RE-CHECK on all the meds I'm on, after 3 yrs & all my test they have done is coming back normal tells me it's time to take me off some of the meds.
