It's not all about the roses

In the months before the Rose Society Annual Show, one of the members gave lessons to others in floral art. They were charged a small amount for each of the six weekly lessons. At the end of the period, the $600 raised in fees was donated to the Breast Cancer Council. Those who had taken the lessons were encouraged to exhibit their talents at the show. The lessons were obviously taken to heart and there was a wonderful display today. The photograph shows two of the more conventional arrangements. Any flowers, foliage and accessories could be used in these classes. I’ll share more later.

What a great way to raise funds for such a worthy cause and have some fun along the way.

This is a good way to educate someone in a skill as well as raise money for a good cause. Plus delight for people who come to watch this. I suppose a lot of activities keep on happening at your place and quite constructive as well !

Those are very artistic. My mum used to be good at flower arranging but it isn't something I have much of a talent for!

What a lovely idea, and the fact that it raised $600 for a good cause makes it even better. Those arrangements look so nice, you can tell everyone put real effort in. Can't wait to see more of the show.
