Sometimes, it's worth the fight!

I have discussed my son's recent surgery, he had a tumor removed from his eye. This has required many appointments, miles driven, and several doctors...and as we are now home, more prescriptions. The prescriptions were all called in and I was informed one was not going to be covered by insurance. It was going to be over $750.00! Um, no....I had not counted on that and none of this has been cheap by any means. So, what does a mama do?
I fought. I finally got someone at the doctor's that would fight for him to get it covered by calling and answering questions as to why this medication was truly necessary, etc. And it worked! It took some time, but I was notified that I could pick it up at the pharmacy, and that it was covered by insurance.
Once again, I wish that I could still turn a few cartwheels. Yes, I am patting myself on the back, and I am so happy it all worked out to get it covered.
We will continue to move forward and get past this! Never, ever give up!!

It is so frustrating how you have to fight with insurance sometime. But I’m thankful you pulled this one through!

Oh, so am I. I had already had to pay two co-pays for him this month, not close to that price but more than enough. The lady that helped me was as determined as I was that we could somehow get it approved!

It doesn't always work that way, but oh, I got lucky today and I was so glad. Thank you.

Congratulations! Persistence most certainly pays off. You must be thrilled it was finally covered.

Yes, I was very happy. He needs every chance, every med, whatever they say....we are not on this journey for fun. Thank you.

I am assertive as well and ask all the pertinent questions and don’t let things go at just one attempt

Even if it had not worked out, if I failed to get it covered at least I would have known I did everything I could.

There was no way I wasn’t going to at least try to get it paid for. That’s a lot of money!
