A grand jury decided not to indict Cassidy Hutchinson

You may or not remember her. She worked in the White House as an aide to one of Trump's chiefs of staff--Mark Meadows. She was working there during the attempted insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6. She was one of the star witnesses (or "witnesses") for the January 6 House Select Committee. She testified that Trump knew that some of the attendees of Trump's "rally" were armed and he didn't care. He wanted the "mags" (magnetometers aka metal detectors removed) because he knew that the people weren't there to hurt him. She also testified that she was told that Trump lunged for the steering wheel when the Secret Service told him he had to go back to the White House rather than to the US Capitol with the rioters. Well as per usual Trump is using the Department of Justice to go after people he perceives as enemies. GOP representatives referred Hutchinson to the DOJ for prosecution for supposedly lying to the committee. Well a federal DC grand jury declined to do so which is saying something when we've heard 100 times by now that you can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. It doesn't have to be a unanimous decision--just a simple majority. As we've seen before (Jim Comey, Tish James) Trump is like a dog with a bone and likely won't give up on this. Attorney General Todd Blanche is supposed to be independent from the executive branch but he is on record saying he works for Trump. Of course he does. He used to be Trump's personal lawyer.

i can't believe the ham sandwich line actually applies here... and the grand jury still said no. That says a lot about how thin the case must be.

I had not heard about this. As you know, I hope Trump lives long enough to see the inside of a prison cell. Even if it has a putting green.
