Happy Pre-Halloween!

My daughter works at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in the Small Animal Hospital. The hospital consists of two divisions, the small animal hospital and the large animal hospital, and employs nearly 1000 people. Today, they are having their big annual Halloween bash at the hospital, and all the employees dress up and bring Halloween treats and food for their big party. My daughter made turkey wraps and vegan wraps and decorated them for the event. She was very creative in creating little Frankenstein wraps and Pumpkin wraps. She used dried seaweed, sliced olives and muenster cheese to decorate the wraps. I love how she chose to use muenster instead of cheddar like she originally intended (get it...muenster = monster). I can only imagine what it will be like seeing nearly a thousand people dressed up for Halloween at the hospital, plus all the food they will bring. I'm a little jealous I won't be there to enjoy the festivities. I did think about crashing the party, because if I'm dressed up in costume nobody will know who I am. But, alas, they all have security badges they must scan to get into the hospital. I'd never make it farther than the patient check-in and waiting area. Have you ever "dressed up" food for a Halloween event?

That's what I told her this morning as she headed out the door! But she said there is never any food leftover at their events, because at the end they let the college interns eat whatever is left. And there are a lot of interns at that hospital!

@moffittjc Just tell her you are a mature intern who couldn't make the party and deserve a fair share!

@JohnRoberts Maybe I'll dress up like a dog and show up and tell everyone I'm a patient at the hospital!

That’s so cool; she did a phenomenal job! I’ve always wanted to make Halloween themed food, but I never did. She certainly did you proud!

It looks pretty simple, but she spent hours preparing the wraps. It's not easy cutting seaweed and cheese into shapes! lol

She did a pretty good job. I love people who are talented and creative enough to come up with amazing themes and designs during holidays. I especially love people who are fantastic artists when it comes to carving pumpkins, a talent I certainly do not possess.

Your daughter is very clever with her Frankenstein wraps. Certainly sounds like a fun day with all those people dressed up in costumes and all that food to enjoy.

She has never been a big Halloween fan even though her birthday is very near Halloween, but she seems to be embracing it more and more these past couple of years. Well, at least the fun side of Halloween. She doesn't like the scary part. lol

I hope she has a really good time. She put in a lot of time preparing for this party. She even dressed up in a costume, and all the employees in her department made this crazy scary door decoration (every department at the hospital participates in a door decorating contest).

The muenster instead of cheddar swap is so good, her coworkers are gonna groan and love it. Frankenstein wraps with olive slices sound adorable...i bet they were gone in minutes, fr.

We also bought little tiny pickles to use as eyebrows on the Frankenstein wraps, but unfortunately they were bigger than we expected and did not fit on the wraps.

I hope you have her strong instructions to take pictures. That sounds like it would be an awesome party to crash.

I told her to take lots of pictures, but knowing her, she will come home and tell me she was too busy to take pictures!

I love it too! Some people are so creative with food, and come up with the most interesting Halloween designs and themes. I wish I was that creative.
