Martha Stewart dressed up as a homeless person for Halloween

Have you heard about this? The homemaking queen shared a picture of her in costume dressed as a homeless person with a dirty face and holding a sign saying "I am hungry. Help me." Well you can imagine how well that went over with regular people who are struggling to pay the bills in this economy. Stewart is a multi-millionaire with multiple mansions/farms in the northeast. I cannot imagine how someone who seems so smart and business-savvy could think that costume was a good idea. Of course she was immediately bashed on social media. On Sunday she deleted the picture and told the NY Post: "I am distressed that my Halloween costume yesterday, which was intended to bring more awareness to the very serious subject of homelessness, has offended people, which was never my intention. Homelessness continues to remain one of America’s greatest challenges and ongoing crises, something that I care deeply about and I have spent a significant amount of time and effort supporting charities that combat this ongoing social epidemic." She never directly apologized. I can only imagine that it has diminished her reputation with many of her fans. I used to get her magazine but that was many years ago now. I don't really think about Martha Stewart these days but I do agree with the critics who say she is totally out of touch with the average person these days.

The part where she never actually said sorry is what gets me, "distressed" that people were offended isnt an apology... Kinda tone deaf for someone with that many mansions, smh.

I can’t believe she didn’t grasp what would happen if she did that, no matter how she meant it. Good grief.
