Yesterday a friend gave a small box of cheese and the brand is popular in Indonesia. As we know cheese should be from milk predominantly. But In the ingredient table it is is said that only 31% cheese and the rest is water, salt, and preservatives. Is it still called cheese?

It might still taste fine, but calling it "cheese" feels a bit misleading when the majority of the product is something else. I think consumers should be aware of these proportions before making a purchase.

@nawala123 I think the low cheese content is meant to keep production costs down and maintain profit margins. However, this also reduces the nutritional value, since most of it is water, with added salt—which can be harmful in excess—and preservatives that aren’t good for our health.

Here, that is classified only as a cheese food. To be officially considered cheese in America, it has to be 51% real cheese or you can’t call it cheese.

That does sound a bit misleading. I wouldn't be surprised if some of our cheeses are marked similarly.
