I wish someone would invent a cure for migraines!

Like many other members of mylot, I get hit with migraines. They can be so very miserable. Sometimes it’s just pain, other times it comes with severe nausea that just basically has to wear itself out.
Over the years, I’ve been to doctors, been given pills, shots, recommendations of what to eat and what not to eat, and on and on it goes. Sometimes pills work-if a person can can keep them down. The last few years it seems like an ice bag on the back of my neck helps the most.
The last 24 hours have been absolutely miserable. I was so nauseated all night that I spent most of my time sitting on a big towel in the bathroom because I felt so bad. I think I finally wore out the migraine or it got tired of me and it’s moved on to torture someone else. I crashed and slept for several hours and now am feeling better.
Does anyone here in mylot land have any cures besides ice that are not drugs that help? I can’t take pills if they won’t stay down. Just curious if anyone has anything natural that they have tried that helps migraines.

I am sorry that you had to battle yet another migraine.
I feel like time and darkness are the only things that I can offer to give mine to end.
They seem to have their own shut off valve, regardless of what I do.
But I believe that another member, used to get botox injections for migraines.

@MarieCoyle Medicaid paid for my Botox injections, but you do have to go every three months.

@MarieCoyle I think that Vicki used to use the shots.
But she had alot of other complications-cancer.

I haven't done the Botox thing. Not sure I want to start something like that, and yet another reason to drive to endless appointments and procedures. I do that enough already with the son's care. Plus, it seems less and less medicines and procedures are covered by Medicare/Medicaid/and insurance...and it's very frustrating at times.
Have to agree that time and darkness help a lot!

I use this lavender and magnesium roll on that I put all over my head and neck. I even got my BIL using it. And for the nausea, if I can, I get a sour piece of candy, and just let it sit in my mouth. Someone online recommended that to me once, and it helped. Because I couldn’t keep any nausea pills down, and nausea medicine you put under the tongue did not work.

I am going to look into that roll on stuff! Thanks for that!
Yes, nausea pills make no sense when they come right back up. I did the put under the tongue thing, they didn't work for me, either. I haven't tried sour candy--I actually am not into sour things, but hey, I will try that!

@MarieCoyle I found the roll on thing on Amazon. I actually got it free to review, but loved it so much I’ve bought about five of them by now. They’re expensive ($24), but they just help me so much.
I’m not big on sour things as an adult, but I perked up when I read that tip. And I didn’t mess around; I went sour!

I know if I am not nauseated, caffeine really does help. You're right, that's sort of pricey!

Do NOT try trepanation!
Seriously, I thankfully only have to deal with their nasty cousin, a cluster headache. That is bad enough. I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

When I get migraine headaches, I take an aspirin to get rid of the headaches which are the combination of heat and cool weather outside.

I wish that aspirin worked for me, but it just doesn't. Glad it helps you, George.

Marie, I could not relate more. I’m having the most miserable two days full of migraines. I’ve heard that if it gets too bad and your medicine isn’t working that you can go to the emergency room and get a shot, but I don’t know if that’s true and I’m not quite at that point yet

I have had to do that a few times over the years. I remember one migraine I had for several days, and was so nauseated. It ended up that the kids hauled me off to the ER and I had shots, etc. and was terribly dehydrated as well. I waited way, way too long on that one. I am sure sorry you are getting hit by them so hard, I know how miserable it can be.
