Was it Even a Cop

Yesterday we were standing on the sidewalk with a parent waiting for the school bus to come along. I noticed a grey SUV drive by, and I looked at my husband. He knew what I was thinking, and he nodded and said that looked like an undercover police vehicle. It was only a minute later and the car approached us, almost driving up over the curb where we were standing, and he put his window down. The 3 of us all backed up. He asked us what the speed limit was on that street. I thought that a strange question. My husband, who did not want to participate in this encounter as he had no trust that he was an actual cop, told him that it should be on his GPS. To that he replied that GPS can be inaccurate. Okay, maybe so. But the answer that any of us would have given him would have been just as inaccurate. He will place a call to the police services office on Monday. they need to know how their officers are conducting themselves in the community. I have little faith in them at this time, but I do know that the next time that I get pulled over I can question the accuracy of their equipment!

The part where he nearly drove up over the curb right at you three is so unsettling... asking about the speed limit with a straight face is sketchy af, glad your husband didnt buy it.

Such a complete waste of tax payer's money to pay someone to act to ignorantly. If you have a question, you ask your boss, you do not ask those that you serve. We should have told him a lower limit than it is and when everyone fights their tickets he would be dismissed.

It does seem an odd encounter. If they were the police, wouldn't they know the speed limit on the street?

@Juliaacv I think I would have reported that one. That sounds like a ruse for child molester, but it seems odd that they would try it with an adult male with the kids. One time when I was a little child 1st grade waiting at the bus stop this car pulled up with someone I thought I recognized but I wasn't sure They told me my mom had been in an accident and offered to take me there. I just was not about to get in their car. My radar was going off at a young age. I think my mom actually may have slipped off the road..so that part I think was true..but even so..I didn't know those people and why would they need to take me to the scene?

There are some 6 digit annual salaries that are just a complete waste of our tax payer's dollars. If you have a question, you ask your boss, you do not ask those that you serve. Ron told me that one time a cop stopped him when he was out walking with the girls and asked him the same question, AND he wanted the girls to come to the car. Ron told him that the girls know better than to step off of the sidewalk and told him to go and pound salt. Our son couldn't believe that enounter.

The guy had a domineering manner ! You should complain to the police services office about it.

Not a pleasant encounter, I would have also been reluctant to answer to that silly question.

May be the police need some witnesses and they want you to be their witness

Such a terrible interaction, we have no trust in our police services at this point. And we cannot justify the wages that they pull in either. To tell taxpayers that the GPS can be incorrect is awful unprofessional.

They should know. I wouldn't trust him
