What is the world coming to? I cannot even speak with my own doctor.

Yesterday, I had a phone appointment with my doctor. Unfortunately my land line phone broke. Fortunately, my cellphone still worked. Unfortunately, it was partially broken as well. I could call out, but I could not receive calls. I left a message with my doctor to call on my cell phone, not my land line. Once in awhile I could pick up a call on the cellphone. Else I could just call him back.
He left two messages on my landline answering machine. Apparently he had not gotten my message. He did not leave a return number. I called his office. His staff said he was not in the office. I guess he does his phone appointments from his home. They said there was not away to patch a call through to him.
I never did get to speak with him.
I guess this is what we have come to. Technology rules. Humans drool. I felt totally helpless. Helplessness leads to bad medical consequences. Elevated stress hormones (cortisol comes to mind) lead to a compromised immune system. And sometimes maladaptive coping strategies (drinking, smoking, eating too much, etc).
It's weird having a "doctor visit" hurt, rather than help, my health.

Umm, Horsie—get it together, sweetie. Get the phones fixed or replace them. In this day and age, a person really needs a phone that they can rely on. I know you have to have a pair of big boy pants around there somewhere. Put them on and go to the appropriate place and get what you need, ok?

Even though I greatly rely on technology, that is what my life has come down to and there is nothing else but too much technology that can make things complicated

Why all the bad tech? You sound like my son.Tries to buy the cheapest devices possible and then complains about them.

That's how things operate now days, they rather you come in
& charge your insurance the bill than to do things the way we
want them to be, I'm having the same problem myself with my
Dr's, which sucks but being my dr is just 10 mins away I don't mind.
