Are men quilters as good as women quilters? Are quilters using traditional patterns or are they making their own designs?

Quilts if they are properly and exquisitely designed, will have a great market. If men are professionals, then women quilters cannot overtake them. Even if they make their own designs, quilts are in great demand especially in countries where there is no hot temperature.

I think men quilters are as good as women, I have been to several shows and there was some really beautiful unique patterns on these quilts and come to find out it was done by a man. Just the same, I saw some made by women that are truly a work of art. I was not born i guess with this talent as the sewn items I have made sewing blocks together came out all wrong. So, I pass the buck and have some quilts that will be cherished by my kids when they get grown in their hope chests.

i am a beggining quilter and still am learning the tradiditional patterns. my husband doesn't know how to sew a seam let alone quilt but i have seen some beatiful stuff done by men. i have a friend that is a wonderful quilter and he uses his own patterns to make quilts. it's a shame that society tends to think that quilting is "a female thing". Beautiful works of art, such as quilting, should be considered just that and not matter who made it.

I think as far are men being good at quilting it all depends on how much experience they have had, unlike my husband who cannot thread a needle! and as for patterns, I think most people start out the traditional way (from books and such) and as they get better they start experimenting on with their own patterns and without the use of book inscrutions, thats what I did.

I think as far as men go as quilting it all depends on the practice and experience they have in it, I have seen a few men who do great, unlike my husband who doesnt even know how to thread a needle. And as for designs, I think you start out using tradional patterns and as you get better you start experimenting on your own, thats what I do.
