Hmm i don't agree with you. But what do you mean by Linux is free from antivirus?? Linux has many antivirus even from Symantec (Norton).. If you meant the other way there are few viruses which affect Linux also..

Well yes...its safe, at least more safer than windows! basically you dont have to care about viruses couse they dont have the right to even run on your computer the only problem can be coused by exploits and hackers but with a well configured system you dont have to worry

any Virus (regardless of OS)is still dangerous. you can download any available Open Source Antivirus

Speaking on comparative terms Linux is damn safe. If a Windows PC without an antivirus can get around 1000 virus per hour then a Linux can get around 0.5 virus! Even without an AV software Linux is damn secure but that does not makes it 100% secure against viruses

their are anti virus that in opensource you can try ir. But it depends in application like mail, proxy and samba
