Okay, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I smoked throughout my entire pregnancy. Perhaps I was just lucky but there seems to have been no ill effects on my son. He was a good weight, really tall (hes allergic to milk but lactose intolerance runs in the family and is caused by hereditary genes not smoking!)doesnt have asthma and is actually really advanced for his age. He has been rolling sonce two months, crawling since four months, sitting since five months and has lots of sounds :D

I totally agree with you. My sisters sister in law (now tahts a tongue twister!) smoked and her son was quite small at birth, however as both her and her husband are quite petite I dont know if Id say smoking was the cause of low birth weight- or genes?

But do you know how it will affect him later in life? Studies show that ppl whose mother's smoked during pregnancy have a higher rate of developing all types of cancer as an adult. Something to think about before you expose a developing baby to over 3000 known toxins on a daily basis.

Smoking is injurious.. Just because one or two cases happened to be alright it doesnt mean there is no effect on the child. Its your child that is within you.. Why would you want to play around with something so precious.. You can always smoke after the birth..

I wouldn't have smoked. That could have affected your child later on in life. I am not trying to sound rude. But i believe that once you get pregnant its your responsibility to stop smoking for the babies health and yours.

I am a smoker and to be very honest i would not light one up in front of the kids or people who hates smoking. I am glad that your baby boy is fine, but please refrain from doing it again. You took a big risk and came out lucky. When you smoked during your pregnancy you took a chance with your baby's life not yours so count your blessing and not do it agian. Take care

i am against smoking all together..so for me...i think its wrong. never while pregnant and never around kids. when i was pregnant the allergic reation to smoke got even worse because my senses were enhanced. i was in a place that allowed smoking in a section of the place and i could barely breath...i felt light headed like my throat was closing up...that was a bad feeling. i told my bf i was going to leave...he felt bad because he was hanging out with his friends at the time...but he left too and spent the rest of the night with me.... just thank the lord that nothing bad happend to your children and hopfully nothing does...i hope you don't smoke anymore since if you do, it will affect the children one way or another.

I guess you are one of the lucky few who escaped passing on something dredful to your baby. Its shameful when a baby is conceived and yet the mother/father (even passive smoking is bad) continue to smoke. It shows how important the baby or its health is for them. Im sorry to be so rude here... but cant pat you on your back for this achievement. It was pretty dangerous.

it's not always that smoking can damage the child during pregnancy. so if he's fine in all respects then there's nothing to worry about, however when you're planning for your next child think about staying away from smoking because sometimes it can really make things worse

wow......you are so lucky your baby is fine although you smoked throughout your entrie pregnancy. But, I still suggest other people shouldn't do that. Even the husband shouldn't smoke at home when your wife is pregnant.

Well I say to each his own. I smoked while I was pregnant with my second child. Only for the first 4 months that I didn't know that I was indeed pregnant. I quit as soon as I found out that I was pregnant. It was too late. I gave birth in the first week of my seventh month and my baby weighed in at 4 pounds 12 ounces. I blame myself everyday for her asthma, which is the terrible. I can barely sleep some nights because my child who is nine years old sometimes wheeze in her sleep and I have a fear that she might slip away from me. I would not recommend smoking during pregnancy, some might have been blessed but others might have been cursed by mothers being irresponsible.
