My youngest son will be spending this Christmas away from family. I am deeply saddened by this. This will be the first time in 23 years that he will spend it without us. I pray that during the time he is away that he will find peace and healing.

I am so sorry for you and for him, hopefully he will take this time and learn from it and grow and be a better person. Its sad he will be gone for the holidays. Maybe you can leave your tree up and have Christmas for him when he gets home.

The tree will most likely be down when he can come home. But, I will keep his gifts for him.

To me there is no worse pain than unhappiness in my children, I feel very much for you ElusiveButterfly and truly hope there is a good ending to this. Finding peace and healing is not always easy, hope he has some really good support and that he gets through this!

I am so sorry for whatever your son is going through. May this present separation lead to the healing he needs to be part of the family physically again. Praying for you both right this minute. Calling cards are great. Hang in there, we really hurt when our kids hurt.

No matter what our kids do we love them unconditionally. He is incarcerated for violating probation. He will be there for up to 6 months, but hopefully will be released in 90 days. I pray that he will get help with his problems while he is in there.

I am sorry to hear this. I really don't know what to say. I hope he comes back soon and is better. Can you at least call him on Christmas? I know it won't be the same as having him with you, but at least you will be able to have some contact. Hugs to you!

I am hoping that we will be able to get together before Christmas. I am going to try to get him a calling card so he can call me. My phone service does not allow collect calls.

I know it is hard on you & I am sorry to hear that. I am sure it is hard on your son too. I was 20 when I spent my first Christmas away. I was in the Army & living in Germany so I felt a world away from everyone. Just let your son know that you miss him & are thinking about him. Best wishes to all of you.

Thank you for your comments. It is not going to be easy without him here. He is only about an hour away, but cannot be with us.

So sorry to hear this. Hopefully next year he will be back, if not before. Try to keep your spirits up and not let it ruin your Christmas. Good Wishes to all of you this Christmas.

I'm so sorry.I know this has to be rough having Christmas without him,but you do still have him and thats the most important thing.I know alot of families thats going to be without their sons this Christmas because they lost their lives fighting in this war.Thats so sad.I do wish you the best of luck.

Thank you for your comment. He is not in this war. It is a battle that is going on inside him that has him in a place where he will not be able to spend time with his family.
