i recently wrote a research paper regarding this topic and want to know how other people feeling about plastic surgeries. I'm not talking about reconstructive surgeries, but cosmetic. 1.) In 2005, more than 3,000 females under the regulated age received a breast augmentation. Do you feel its excessive when teenagers opt for a plastic surgery before reaching physical maturity? 2.) While flipping through television channels at night, I am amazed at the number of programs dedicated to the cosmetic industry and a growing trend of “surgical makeovers.” The majority of these programs are reality shows like Dr. 90210, Nip/Tuck, Extreme Makeover, and The Swan, do you feel like the media glamorizes the industry to make it more appealing? Do you feel celebrities have an impact? This discussion does deal with more "mature" content, but please note, I am not trying to ofend anyone. Plastic Surgery has become a topic regularly mentioned in the news, I'm curious to see how other people feel about this topic.

Yeah I think that you should have to reach a certain age before you can have plastic surgery unless there is very good reasons like fire damage and things like this. I would go for plastic surgery as the years catch me up I would like something to stop me aging however I do feel the world has taken it too far and some people become obsessed with it. One only has to look at Michael Jackson to realise that.

I think it's disguistng... why do you need to go through surgery to change something about yourself! Accept who you are and that is it. Easier said than done, but it's ridiculous.

I think some people are obsessed. For me.. It's insane. I could understand having plastic surgery to correct a birth defect, stretch marks from a pregnancy, or even a tummy tuck after a massive amount of weight lost. But having surgery because you don't like your nose, or your boobs, or a BUTT lift! LOL. I think it's becoming an obsession.

Maybe some people take it too far but then again, I don't know what it feels like to have something I want altered on my body. The industry also thinks about the money and maybe the feed too much on people's insecurities.

Recently one of my relatives was burnt. so the plastic surgery was done on her. So its impossible to be obsessed on plastic surgery after seeing its plus points in my own eyes But it is really the matter to concer about the teenagers opt for plastic surgery before reaching the physical maturity.

I think plastic surgery for any reason other than for an emergancy to save your life shows that the person has mental and emotional problems because they can't even find a way to be happy with what God gave them. You don't see men running to the Doctor to have a few extra inches added on.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Yes, I do think it has gone too far. I was watching Dr. 90210 where the woman was getting a Brazilian Butt. Yikes! What is happening today? I also have to wonder about some of the doctors doing the surgery. If I were a doctor, I would not do surgery on a person just because they wanted a bigger butt. If there was truly a deformity or injury or disease, then it is appropriate to do it, but just for kicks? The show almost made me sick.

I think some people are going too far with plastic surgeries. They should be happy with what they have.

I feel the plastic surgery industry is taking it way too far. I have also noticed all the shows on TV dedicated to plastic surgery. I think it is very excessive for teenagers to have plastic surgery for cosmetic issues. Plastic surgery resulting from an accident is understandable, but not just to look better.

what i feel about plastic surgery is that it should not be the trend!!accept the way god made you..thats the point i want to make..celebreties opt for cosmetic surgeries noways to enhance their beauty...personally i think there is no comparison to what is natural..ya there should be surgeries where it is genuinely needed..like a face spoilt by any accident or something like that..but i am against plastic surgery!!
