I have had them before. They taste very creamy. The chocolate reminds me of very creamy pudding pops. My son always likes to get the cookies and cream flavor.

For some reason, it does not appeal to me. How can they taste like ice cream? Are they cold? What happens if you spill the cup, there are little pellets everywhere to clean up, I guess. I have no trouble passing right by the Dippin' Dots kiosk although now my interest has been piqued. Next time I see one, I will see if they offer free samples.

dippin dots - ice cream in a new way...serveable in a bowl but in individual pieces.
am told that they taste like pudding. have not had them myself. Not sure if they are frozen or chilled in refrigeration. Hope you get the free sample and let me know.

I've seen them in our Malls here, but have never tried them. Now I think I'll give them a try the next time I'm in one of the malls...unless my husband is with me. ;)

Are you serious! You have got to try it. I think they let you have a small cone for like 50 cents. I wouldn't put too much in your mouth at one time. It is truly cold. I like the bubble gum, vanilla, chocolate, and cookies and creme flavors. I'm a big fan of thier ice cream and I hope you try it soon!

hi willowlady, my dear freind, i have eaten this dippin dots ice cream. it was bought by my hubby. i didn't found it very tasty. i mean awesome. they were like just any other ice cream. the only difference was that it was in small small balls. thats it. nothing else. and they are a bit costlier than compared ti the other or our regular ice creams. so it matters, at least to me . the shop is no more having the counter also. now if we wanna have , we have to go to the mall. there is no other place where we can find it. not a big hit in our area.

Go to dippindots.com and you will get information. I have seen them briefly here in Ohio and thought I would ask before I bought something that might now be good for us. I grow an edible cactus here but have not made anything of it yet. Not your ice cream either, though I think my plant is that.

----here is more info from wikipedia.org if you'd like to read it ---- Dippin' Dots is an ice cream snack, invented by Southern Illinois University graduate Curt Jones in 1987. The confection is created by flash freezing ice cream mix in liquid nitrogen. The resulting small spheres of ice cream are stored at temperatures ranging from 20 to 70 degrees below zero Fahrenheit (from -29°C to -57°C). The marketing slogan is "Ice Cream of the Future". The company, headquartered in Paducah, Kentucky, does not sell its product in "take-home" outlets such as supermarkets. On its official website, the company notes that its product requires storage at temperatures below zero Fahrenheit (about -18°C), which is considerably colder than standard home freezers. Dippin' Dots are sold in individual servings at franchised outlets, many in shopping malls, and in vending machines. Many theme parks such as Six Flags and SeaWorld, stadiums and arenas also sell Dippin' Dots. The ice cream is also sold over the Internet for delivery to homes and businesses. The company has a line of novelties called Dot Delicacies made by combining the Dippin' Dots ice cream with other snack foods. A dotwich is an ice cream sandwich made by combining Dippin' Dots and fudge and placing between two cookies. Dippin' Stix come in a package containing vanilla cookie sticks and chocolate fudge. Dippin' Dots are added onsite so the customer can dunk the cookie into fudge, then into the Dippin' Dots. The company also has a line of ice cream cakes sold only at its franchised retail stores. Dippin' Dots has sold its beads of ice cream since 1988, but recently entered the take-home, grocery store line of ice creams. The company combined its Dippin' Dots ice cream into conventional ice cream mix to produce Dots 'n Cream. The products website says the ice cream is "frozen from the inside out", meaning that the dots of ice cream actually work as a freezing agent so the base freezes quicker. The company says that because the ice cream is frozen quickly, its molecular structure is denser which results in creamier ice cream with less butterfat. Dippin' Dots can be found at some McDonald's locations in southern California, Seattle, Tempe, along the Kansas Turnpike and at BJ's Wholesale Club along the east coast and in some places in Washington state along the west coast. Dippin' Dots Franchising, Inc. is the franchise arm of the company. The company sells franchise rights to sell Dippin' Dots ice cream at retail stores in the U.S. Dippin' Dots Global, Inc. represents the company in markets outside the U.S. and its territories. Dippin' Dots are produced in Seoul, South Korea for distribution throughout the Pacific Rim. The company maintains a distribution center in Sydney, Australia as well.

I responded to this discussion a long time ago. I was very surprised to see that after 3 years, this discussion is still going. Wow!!! I think that is a new record. And guess what?? My kids still like Dippin Dots. I have tried them several times. I just don't care for them much. They seem a bit dry.

My children love them. We first saw them in Mackinac City, Michigan. I thought they were too weird but the children wanted to try them. Now every time we go to Mackinac City, we have to stop at the little store on the side of the road that sells them and get some. They are a very interesting concoction. They tastes like ice cream but they sure do not look like ice cream. I have not seen them in grocery stores.

Yes, we had twice. the first it was when we were coming from our walk in the evening and once it was in our Mall. it is costly no doubt and these people say that it is an imported item so it is very costly. i like the chocolate and vanilla flavour when mixed in together. i lke plain chocolate also. it was less sweet, otherwise when taken with vanilla, i found it very sweet. cost is a fact that it is very high in that, but it is something very unique so we tried it.
