Why not make a list of the top ten things you eat most often, and see if you can lean to make those at home better than the version you currently buy when you are out?

Yum! - Use tender cuts of meat for this. Turn every couple of minutes until done to avoid scorching.
Here's what I recommend 1. Learn how to cook rice and potatoes: they work well with so many entres 2. Start with small cuts of meat. Learn (by doing) different methods of cooking them until done. With pork and beef cuts, remember that cuts from the middle section of the body are more tender from the start, so you can cook them at higher temps and for less time... so they are easy to play with for a variety of meals. 3. Most fruits and veggies are loaded with water which makes them simple to cook -- simply heat any way you prefer until they are hot and tender. Start with that. Mix and match foods to your liking and play a little with various seasonings. Begin to read cookbooks. Pay attention to cooking times and prep techniques. You can modify seasonings, herbs, and spices as you gain more practice. Cooking is so much fun. It's part of my recreation. Hope that helps.

If you've never cooked before, it would probably be best if you started with simple box mixes from the store, like cake mix or stuffing mix or something like that, there's all kinds of stuff. Spaghetti is also very very easy that way - just boil the noodles til tender and warm up the jar of sauce. As you make the mixes and stuff you'll gain the confidence and skills needed to make a more complicated meal.

Do you have a crock pot (slow cooker)? If not, it's a great investment (and not too expensive)! There are so many recipes for crock pots that you can toss everything in and let it set all day and not touch it. My favorite homemade meal is done in the crock pot. Get a roast and set it in the crock pot. Sprinkle one package of onion soup mix on top of the roast. Pour a bottle (16 ounces) of cola on top. Set the crock pot to low and let it go for 10-12 hours. It's so tender and tastes great! You can even add potatoes, carrots and onions (I usually add the potatoes about halfway through and the carrots/onions a little later) and have your meat & veggie done at the same time.
