When your in the mall, are you a compulsive buyer? Do you tend to buy things even if you don't need them?

No dear, I bye only the things I need. Whenever I go to a Mall, first I prepare a list then only leave for purchasing. Though there may be one or two things extra, but not in bulk. Whenever requirements arise, I bye only. I do not believe in collection of lot of materials. Ultimately it gives us trouble in managing. May be long or short ending/finishing.

Well I guess I must learn to be like you. I do tend to buy things that I don't really need when I'm in the mall. Sometimes its how I release tension by treating myself out. I have to learn to discipline myself when it comes to shopping! Thank you for your response and have a nice day.

That's a nice idea! But I do hope that you would be able to stick with it for the whole year. I wish you luck! There I've said it now it's up to you to do the rest!

No, never. But, my husband is. He wants it, he buys it. Even if he doesn't use it more than once after that. Are you compulsive?

Yes I think that could be considered as a slight compulsive buyer. I guess its ok to be a compulsive buyer if you have the extra money to spend for shopping even if you don't need these things. But as for me and the majority of the population, lets try to control ourselves. Hopefully I could apply this to myself too! Hopefully.

Well, it is okay to be a little compulsive. After all, we all work hard to pay bills it seems. Being nice to our selves is good too.

Thank you for responding. As for me I better learn to save because I really can't help myself when I'm in the mall. I have to try to live within my income. Have a nice day my friend and I hope you stay as the top user!

CHECKLIST - do you do this? i do a lot.
i am a very compulsive buyer but i don't tend to buy things if i don't need them.i guess i am a compulsive buyer in terms of buying beyond budget...for instance, when i go to a supermarket, i usually have my checklist but when i see something nice and i want it,i would buy it even without in my checklist.most of the time,i would overspend the budget for supermarket because i tend to buy more than the list i am holding.

I think most of us do that frequently in the supermarket. We have a list and at the end of the counter we actually have a lot of things that were originally not on the list. Small petty things and they add up like hell in the bill!

my problem tends to be that I want to buy things for people I care about, not usually for myself...

Wow that's so nice. I only do that when its Christmas or if its someone's birthday. Its really a noble thing to do and I commend you for that.

Sometimes when I go to the mall I would buy things for my caravan even if it is not necessary. So I think I am a compulsive buyer too.

compulsive buying - shopping
Rarely. I used to be very compulsive but have changed my spending habits as I grew older and hopefully smarter... okay and my income took a huge dive! lol

Well I guess if my income dove I would change also. But certainly I would not want that to happen. But I hope I would be a wise spender than a compulsive buyer. Thanks for your comment.

Nah, I rarely buy anything on impulse. I used to though - when I got my first ever job, I used to blow my entire paycheque. It was the thrill of having money for the first time I suppose. Now I find shopping boring - retailers must really hate me!

I just wonder what was the reason for your turn around in loving to shop and hating it. Do you mind sharing it with us?

I'm guilty. Over thanksgiving was when I realized how bad it was. I was waiting in line and would start to pick up items that were by the line. Thinking that they would make great gifts. And it was a great deal, it was on sale. I'm more of a, if it's on sale, I'll probably but it person. When I realized this. I told my boyfriend to never leave me alone in a store with sales. I can probably control it, but I think I'll take it one day at a time.

I am also very guilty. I must not also be left alone when the mall is on sale. I would only stop when I am dog tired carrying the things that I've bought and tired of walking in and out of the stores that are on sale. Thank you for responding to the discussion and have a nice day.

definitely i am... so if im in the mall i'd rather dont bring money or any card just to save me from spending!!! in that way i can control myself and save my money for more important things.

The supermarket is I guess the hardest to be when it comes to being compulsive. You go to the supermarket with the list and you end up buying things which are not in the list on the first place. You always get a shock at the end of the cashier when you see your bill. Thank you for responding and have a nice day!

That is nice to hear and good for you. As for me and the rest of the people like me we have yet to learn from people like you who can discipline themselves when it comes to shopping, especially when the mall goes on sale. Thank you for responding and have a nice day!

I use to be a compulsive buyer and is most likely the reason we are in debt...Now I dont enjoy going to the mall, Im in and out, no interest in looking around and no desire to really want to buy anything. I guess this could be a good thing!

im definetly a compulsive buyer, i buy things for me and my daughter espescially. Its so easy with a little girl i could just shop for her all day long, with my son its a little harder to find things that i like for him. I do buy things even if i dont need them, i buy things like shoes that i definetly dont need just because i love them and then have to listen to my husband complain about it, yes its pretty easy to get carried away with material things that we really dont need so im trying to watch myself and buy less now and buy only what i need.

No but my aunt is. Her place is cluttered with stuff she has bought. Some of the things she has double or triple of. She would not know if a person came in and took something or not. It is funny my mom calls it going shopping at her house.
