I have the hiccups and they will not go away. What are some of the remedies that you have heard of or tired?

when i have the hiccups, i will either drink water or i will hold my breath for 3 mins...it always worked wonders...try holding your breath and the hiccup will gradually go away...

Keeping your breath should do it. It works for me.

I have heard of the sugar thing that razcal said. I also heard of drinking a glass of water real fast. I don't really use any,I just wait for them to go away. Mine doesn't stay very long. How long have you had them? If they don't go away soon, it might be wise to call a doctor and ask.

I find that usually when I get the hiccups it is from being hungry and just drinking water and usually when I add talking!!!. To get rid of them I find just eating something will make them go away. Holding my breath and other things never worked for me.

Well hiccups are caused from sudden movement of diaphram so try to eat your food slowly or laugh but dun over do it.. the best remedie is drink water or you can try to eat sugar thats also works but try to hold your breath thats what works for me........

i've heard of frightening the person; eating something sweet like a lil sugar; breathing into a bag; holding your breath for a while....... honestly, don't think any of this works

This is the method i'd use with my huband. To get rid of the hiccups fast, i would usually ask my huband to hug me really tightly while i hold my breath for as long as i could. I'm not sure about others but it works for my huband too. So whenever either of us gets hiccups, we would definitely do that method. Another one that i heard is to drink plain water and try to hold your breath afterwards. But as for me, the first method is definitely the best so far.

The usual ones are hold your breath for a very extended period of time until the hiccups go away or gulp glasses of water until you swallow them away!

My son has had the hiccups since he came home from the hospital,on Saturday, this is now monday.I went on line and did a search for hiccups and found a cure to try.It worked. 1.get a glass of water,a tall class 2 hold your breath 3.pinch your nose hard at the same time as holding your breath. 4.slowly swallow 20-30 times until you think you are going to drown, you will gasp rather hard. 5 then take a deep breath and relax. They will go away%99 of the time.It really did work for him.
