I have never seen 2 people so much in love in my life. My one friend is planning on buying a commitment ring and asking to be committed in a formal ceremony. He wants this to be a joyous event and wants his friends and family there. However, there are a few members of his family who are very religious and I am not sure they would attend. How should he handle this? I know it will tear him apart if they do not show up.

I am sorry for what he is going through. Love is love and it should be seen for just that. But there are alot of people who dont look at it that way. I think that as long as him and the one he loves is there thats all that matters. If the loved ones he wants there dont show than dont let it stop him from celebrating the love he has. It is terrible that we as society cant look past things but it happens. Just tell him to celebrate the love he has found and dont let anyone ruin the happiness he deserves to have.

I agree with you 100%. I am sure the whole thing will turn out awsome. I just hope he does not let it get to him.

I won't turn my back on my friends, I won't judge them either. They would never turn their backs on me so why should I?

They should talk to their families and find out who would support them and only invite those people
