I get the weirdest migraines. I did some research on the internet and found out they are called ocular migraines. Does anyone else experience these or any other types of migraines? If your curious as to what an ocular migraine is read on. Ocular Migraines are a variant of migraines. I read that they are not uncommon. They are believed to be caused by the same mechanism as a classical migraine. Instead of the spasm affecting the surface of the brain, these episodes affect the ocular blood supply or the blood supply to the vision center in the brain. Most of the time, these episodes begin with a visual disturbance that begins in the peripheral vision. It often consists of a semi-circular, jagged, shimmering light, which enlarges and becomes more central. This disturbance usually obscures the vision within the jagged area. In the typical episode, the visual disturbance lasts 15 – 20 minutes and then disappears. A mild headache may or may not follow the disturbance. Take a look at the attached picture to see what it looks like when you have an ocular migraine. Weird huh? I've learned that there are certain triggers to these migraines. Red wine is the trigger that most applies to me.

Migraine is a dreaded disease. It is a nuisance which is very real and extremely agonizing. You have to experience to really know the suffering of a victim of migraine! I suffered it when I was studying in College. Those days were the worst in my life. When the attack begins the victim would not be able to open his eyed to daylight. Light rays will pierce your head like needles. You will feel like vomiting and you cannot concentrate on anything. Usually the attack would begin at about 9 in the morning and would last for 2-3 hours. By the time it finishes on its own, you will be exhausted and mentally wrecked. The pain is REAL!!! The cause of this ailment is yet to be identified by the medical community. Some say it is nerves twitching. Some say it is the blood. There are some assumptions only. I think that it will eventually cease as was my experience. I no longer suffer from that migraine. I wish you iAlicia a speedy recovery.
